Big Content Drop - And a documented, witnessed oath to the Prince(ss) of Darkness
Gogo's World of Ruin Has Returned
Hello everyone!
This morning, Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma will be showing off 10 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As such, I decided this morning to import all of my posts from the defunct blog, Gogo’s World of Ruin. At present, all but two of the posts are in the archives and thus accessible only by Paid subscribers. I think that for now, I will keep it that way. However, I will link to the two exceptions in this post to give my readers an idea of what they can expect from those posts. I will also be using this post to write for the first time about the Oath I took with the Prince(ss) of Darkness in-game, providing the evidence that it was, as they say, “The Real McCoy.”
First Things First: Book Reviews
I’m friends on Facebook with author, magician, and High Priest Emeritus of Temple of Set, Don Webb. One day (I really can’t remember how the thought process went), I decided to up and totally delete my blog, Hermekate, for the 4th and final time.
A few days after that, Don Webb announced that he’d received review copies of his upcoming book, How to Become a Modern Magus: A Manual for Magicians of All Schools, and said to DM him if anyone was interested in reviewing it prior to release. I messaged him that night…drunk…and I would not have done that sober. I would have second-guessed myself and chickened out.
The next morning, hung over, I woke up to a link to the review copy for download.
I messaged him to ask him what I could do to return the favor, and he said to write a review of it on a blog or something. When I had just. Deleted. My blog.
F*********ck. What the hell was I gonna do?
What the fuck was I gonna do?
I guess I needed a new blog. And thus, Gogo’s World of Ruin was born. The friction of this situation had forced me to give a blog concept that I’d had brewing in the back of head the ol’ college try. And I would say that it went well.
Here is a link to my review of the book, now published as an archived post here on the substack.
Next Up: The Sneak Preview
The first post from Gogo’s World of Ruin that I want to showcase is the Christmas Eve post, What Child Is This? A Merry Zelda Yule. In the opening post to Rushin’ Roulette (a series I have since decided to remove from Dark Twins), I mention my application to join Temple of Set, which was renewed and ongoing at the time I wrote the post. The next morning, almost as a “Christmas Present,” I received my reply from the Executive Director.
By this point, I had begun to notice two things about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild:
There is a whole lot of esoteric/alchemical/tarot-related symbolism in the game, and a lot of it is arranged in ways that suggest it was all done with deep understanding of the principles in question, and not just some superficial cultural appropriation thing going on to add some mysterious flavor to the game.
The synchronicity that had taken over my everyday life did not let up while I was playing the game.
It was as I was writing Gogo’s World of Ruin that I decided to first begin “documenting my Ipseity.” I have made several references on this site to the Grade of Ipsissimus, and one aspect of it is the fact that the universe starts talking to you through….pretty much every single thing that happens in your life, as long as you’re paying attention and sometimes when you are not. So I started playing the game and writing posts in real-time, taking screenshots of some of the cool synchronicities I was having. Some of them, I documented on Facebook instead.
Next, I am going to document another one of them.
The Oath With The Prince(ss) of Darkness
For those unaware of the history, Temple of Set was the result of a schism within the Church of Satan. To oversimplify, Anton LaVey had essentially made what some of the Church’s members viewed as a mockery to the Church and to Satanism itself, and started basically selling Priesthood positions in the Church, which was incorporated as a private corporation that LaVey controlled.
Michael Aquino, one of LaVey’s closer students, made contact with the Prince of Darkness in a working to claim for himself “The Infernal Mandate,” declaring himself The Prince of Darkness’ “deputy” (I put “Infernal Mandate” and “deputy” in quotes because those are the literal terms Michael Aquino himself uses in his book The Temple of Set) on Earth and casting said Prince in the mold of the Egyptian god Set, rather than the traditional Christian figure of Satan.
On January 3rd, around 7:20am or so, in Breath of the Wild, I entered Impa’s house in Kakariko Village to accept the-in game quest to defeat Calamity Ganon. As I had conceived of the situation, this was, in fact, my own ritual pact with The Prince(ss) of Darkness (whom I now cast in the mold of the Goddess Hekate, as Aquino did with Set). In my mind, The Princess was inhabiting the 3D model of Impa. Impa was the Princess of Darkness, and I stood in a room alone with Her and made my Oath.
I saved my game. I went onto Facebook. The very first post in my News Feed, which had also just been made, was from a Page I follow called “Luciferianum,” and it was a post of Franz Francken’s painting, “The Damned Being Cast into Hell.” Here is a link to the post, please do check the time stamp. You’ll see it lines up with 7:24am, Chicago time.
I immediately shared that post to my own News Feed with a vague mention of the Oath, and it was “Liked” by Luciferianum. I took that as the witnessing of the oath. That Facebook account has now been deleted, so I don’t have that evidence anymore. That’s okay. I took screenshots in-game, which you can see below.
As Don Webb himself wrote in his book Overthrowing the Old Gods, magicians read the synchronicity in the events surrounding them and interpret them accordingly; based on my goals, my heartfelt inner motives, and the magic(k)al currents I have been working with, I interpreted this series of events as a genuine taking of The Oath of the Grade of Ipsissimus, per Crowley’s words: “He is sworn to accept this Grade in the presence of a witness, and to express its nature in word and deed, but to withdraw Himself at once within the veils of his natural manifestation as a man, and to keep silence during his human life as to the fact of his attainment, even to the other members of the Order.” In this case, the “Witness” was The Prince(ss) of Darkness Themselves.
I knew then what I had to do.
